Question: How do you get a vintage 356 off the second floor?

Answer: Very carefully.

We went down to the Boston area over the weekend and stopped by KTR European Motorsports for a Ferrari club dyno day they were hosting. KTR is well-known amongst vintage racers as a top-notch race prep facility. KTR is well-known amongst the rest of us as being the shop that was once owned by musician and all around hipster J. Geils.

KTR is housed in a 32,000 square foot facility with a loft over one half of the garage. Some of the small-bore lightweight race cars are stored up there. I wondered how they got them down, since I didn’t see an elevator or a ramp of any kind. The answer is a custom-made platform for the cars that is lowered via a forklift. It’s a delicate process, but it works flawlessly, provided you’ve got an experienced operator at the wheel:
